by Philip Pullman is the start of a trilogy that came out a year ago. Although I was eager to read the long awaited book, my piles are large and I just got to it recently. It too is set along the banks of the Thames and is the same world as the Golden Compass books. In it, Lyra, the main character of the Golden Compass trilogy, is
just a baby. So she is merely along for the ride on the flood waters of the Thames in this book.
For although she is just a baby, forces of evil are after her and it is up to two unlikely partners to
rescue her while navigating an historic flood. The adventure and intrigue captured me and I
look forward to further installments.
